Nobody visits the doctor or hospital for fun. Right now, in the midst of the Coronavirus crisis, it\u2019s scarier than ever to check in for a triage, consultation or the results of a medical test or examination. You don\u2019t know whether you\u2019re wanted at the location, where exactly, at what time and whether the appointment will actually take place or not. In short, this causes unnecessary stress, especially in the vulnerable groups consisting of the aged and sickly, who are already not feeling well. That\u2019s why now is the time for healthcare insurance, care providers and suppliers to work together to further optimise the patient journey.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Journey<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every patient undertakes a kind of \u2018journey\u2019 during each healthcare visit. Quite often, this is a journey into the unknown, where no one really knows what to expect. It\u2019s so much more pleasant when your care provider takes your hand and leads you through the journey. The combination of proper attention, correct processes and procedures along the route, and especially clear communication can make that journey so much easier. Thanks to digitisation, it is now also possible to interconnect a growing number of elements to make the processes more logical and the systems less ambiguous. The entire journey, from referral to making and confirming an appointment, and from arrival and check-in to waiting until the visitor can make their way home, can now be fully supported with easy-to-use digital systems. Most of these systems are simple self-service portals that prevent the patient from having to wait in user-unfriendly (telephone) queues. That way, the visitor knows what to expect throughout the entire process and the healthcare provider is able to focus on offering better services. This has a positive effect on the visitor\u2019s experience, enhances customer satisfaction and reduces costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Hi-Tech Anxiety<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Als je het hebt over de inzet van digitale middelen voor iets als een bezoekers-, of pati\u00ebntenreis dan wordt al snel het bezwaar opgeworpen dat dit onpersoonlijker is. Het vervangen van een receptie door een aanmeldzuil kan inderdaad als zodanig worden ervaren. En dus moet je altijd de menselijke maat in de gaten houden en indien mogelijk een persoonlijk alternatief bieden. Vergelijk het met de sefservice check-ins of outs op Schiphol of in supermarkten. Dat vermindert de wachtrijen terwijl het de kosten verlaagd en niemand vind het echt vervelend. En er staat altijd iemand in de buurt om vragen te beantwoorden of om de helpende hand te bieden.&nbsp;&nbsp;De maten waarin mensen wennen aan digitale processen wordt vaak onderschat. Het blijkt dat de leercurve eigenlijk best snel gaat. Ook de meeste 70-plussers schrikken niet meer van het gebruik van de smartphone, computer en tablet.&nbsp;&nbsp;Het is vooral een kwestie van er goed over nadenken en een menselijke escape bieden. Vraag eens aan de gemiddelde Nederlander of hij\/zij nog zonder de bankierenapp wil of kan en het antwoord laat zich raden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Optimal<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>Patient Journey<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHoe laat moeten we morgen in het ziekenhuis zijn en welke afdeling ook alweer? En is het met die corona eigenlijk wel toegestaan dat jij mee naar binnen gaat? \u201c Dat is zo maar een vraag van iemand die de volgende dag op pad moet voor een diagnose.&nbsp;&nbsp;Allemaal facetten die leiden tot stress. En dan hebben we het nog niet over de reis naar het ziekenhuis toe. \u201cIs het druk of is die wegomlegging al voorbij? Waar kan je een goed parkeren? En moest ik nog wat meenemen? Of zou die uitslag van de diagnose toch per video gaan, nee het zou fysiek, want dat was nodig.\u201d Kom je veel te vroeg, dan was dat normaal niet zo erg, maar nu is dat vanuit het ziekenhuis ongewenst. Het restaurant is dicht en in de winter is de auto te koud en in de zomer te warm. En zit je te wachten, dan zijn de tijdschriften uit 2014 ook weg, want dat is niet meer hygi\u00ebnisch. En je smartphone mag je eigenlijk na binnenkomst niet meer aanraken.
